Synopsis

The Loft Movie Theatre is proud to present a special one-night screening of Paul Verhoeven's 1987 Sci Fi Action film, RoboCop.

When mild-mannered Detroit cop Alex Murphy is brutally murdered by a gang of criminals in the line of duty, corporate technology giant Omni Consumer Products deem him a prime candidate to test out their latest advances in the future of law enforcement.

Replacing much of his mutilated body with cybernetics, but leaving his brain in place, OCP turn Alex into the grisly prototype cyborg RoboCop, and assign him three main directives: serve the public trust, protect the innocent, and uphold the law.

But as quickly as RoboCop starts to act on his duties and clean up the crime-ridden city, he starts to recall echoes of his former human self, and when RoboCop learns about the truth about OCP, he turns on his makers.

A dystopian future movie depicting the nature of humananity, with graphic violence, satirical humour, iconic costume design by special effects artist Rob Bottin, and stop-motion effects by veteran animator Phil Tippett, RoboCop is a 1980s classic not to be missed on the big screen!
